In the morning of 14^th Nov 2025, Dr Chris Bradley and representative Miss Faye Fei visited our school, and introduced the policies and details about the “1+1+1” Joint Postgraduate Program between Guangdong University of Technology and University of Birmingham in Room 314 of Building 2, Dongfeng Road Campus. Vice Dean Kaihuai Liao organized this presentation with the help of Dr Licheng Zhang and officer Jingzhe Zhang.

Dr Chris Bradley has been a lecturer in Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Birmingham from 1994 and became Senior Lecturer from 2007. He currently focuses on hydrodynamics of floodplain wetlands. His ongoing work seeks to advance ways to investigate the hydrology of lowland floodplain wetlands and includes the modelling of shallow groundwater flows and river-aquifer interaction. Specific research projects have included the modelling of transient water table variations on floodplain wetlands using the USGS groundwater modelling programme, MODFLOW. Soil-water fluxes in macro-porous soils: Projects have examined water flow through peat deposits and in a cracking clay soil to investigate the factors contributing to macro-pore flow. Hydrology of permeable catchments: A recently completed project investigated surface water-groundwater interactions in a permeable chalk catchment in the UK (the River Lambourn).

In the presentation, Dr. Chris provided a comprehensive overview of the joint program's curriculum framework, teaching content, grading criteria, and assessment methods, while showcasing multiple university-enterprise collaborative projects. This fully demonstrated the University of Birmingham's long-standing cultural traditions and student-centered teaching philosophy.

The representative Miss Faye Fei talked through the entry requirements, fees, procedure, and campus life in UoB. During the Q&A session, quite a few students raised a number of questions, including how to choose the required courses, how to submit documents, how to make sure there is enough time for application, and so on. Both Chris and Faye gave detailed answers to all the students.

By the end of visit, Dr Chris Bradley and Miss Faye Fei had a quick watch of Dongfeng Road Campus and the Guangdong Industrial Design Exhibition Center.
